The evening of Bach and Bite is the last hoorah for John Doubleday as fund raiser. The original target was to raise £100,000 – this has been more than doubled. For this event an evening of surprises has been devised. The distinguished Director and Cellist Orlando Jopling will take us on a voyage of discovery, culminating of a performance of Bach’s 5th Cello sonata in c minor. This is seldom performed for a good and surprising reason.

The evening has been planned as a cabaret style event, each aspect of the menu selected for the opportunity that it presents for some aspect of novelty. Above is the small selection of items to be offered at auction.

The Saturday evening was sold out very quickly necessitating an encore to take place the previous evening, itself a bit unusual. We are very grateful to Orlando Jopling for making this possible. There are no more tickets available for the Friday evening which maintains our track record for sell outs.

The menu will be

A glass of wild strawberry fizz on arrival

A choice of salads with crispy lardons of Goat Lodge bacon or flaked mature cheddar

Tornados of beef, goat lodge style, served with a rich port laden topping with new potatoes and seasonal vegetables

Mountain Strawberries with thyme marinated in multiple Montepulcciano with lemony creamy

(The vegetarian main course option will be vegetable JALOUSIE)

The meal will be served red or white wine, half a bottle per person

At the end of the concert coffee and chocolates will be served
